Fall Time
by Cedar Jeffers
a dreary cold breeze whistled through your hair
the crunch of a leaf echoes through the air
corn, beets, and bales of hay, ready to be sold
aspen and maple trees shed their leaves of red and gold
time for family and friends, a table of those who care
pumpkin spice and caramel apples can be quite a pair
scarfs, boots, and flannels all piled on a chair
knives cutting through pumpkins, to make a funny face
little kids dressed like astronauts going to space
mazes on Halloween night can be quite a scare
the last of the peaches up high swaying in the air
witches and ghosts fill a child's nightmare
apple picking for a fresh fall-time dessert
homemade costumes take a lot of effort
kids fight, the amount of candy from trick-or-treating is unfair
fall time is hard to compare
autumn activities we enjoy and share
pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and trick-or-treating
all these to enjoy before the weather becomes freezing
fall time is here and so quickly it is there.
